What is the leadership?
The ability to lead can be innate or learned by developing skills that allow us to have effective communication, knowing ourselves and also knowing others.
It is important to note that a leader without a team is not a leader; there is a difference between «command/command», which is what a manager essentially does, and «lead». In a work team there must be harmony and for this all must know well their roles and those of others to function properly, especially the leader is the one who has to know himself and his collaborators.
In the words of John Whitmore, pioneer of executive coaching, «The task of the leader is simple: get things done and develop the skills of the staff».
Aside from Whitmore, more experts on the subject emphasize that social skills are vital for a leader to proactively perform with himself and, in this way, with his team. If one is very clear about one’s goals and in general those of the company in which one works to set short-, medium- and long-term goals through specific tasks, it is that little by little it will lead everyone to the main(s) goal(s).
An important issue to consider due to the circumstances is that virtuality has changed the dynamics to be developed within the work teams, although it can be an advantage to solve everything via mail or video call, may also restrict communication if it is not effectively done. The channel is very important to consider and to know it will give us the tools to take advantage of how advantageous the media can be, but that implies that we have to work more on these skills and dedicate time to them; constancy is the key.
